About Us

Hongkong Telecom Institute of Information Technology (HKTIIT) is a research and development (R&D) unit within the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). It was inaugurated on 1 November 1990 with a generous donation from the PCCW Foundation. Since then it has supported students and faculty with research grants, scholarships and workshops and further details about these support programs can be found on these webpages.

The mission and goals of HKTIIT are:

Mission:
Contribute to a dramatic advancement in the way people of Hong Kong and the region work, learn, and communicate through research and development in a broad spectrum of information technologies

Goals:
1. To formulate, sponsor, and execute research and development programs that would achieve the mission of HKTIIT.
2. To ensure that the contributions are continuing and long lasting.
3. To establish HKTIIT as the leading tertiary institution in Asia in the area of information technology.
4. To assure the long-term sustainability of HKTIIT.
